From Ice Cream....to Cake!

It's appreciation dinner time for our former department presidents at church, and the youth is in charge of the desserts! YAY!

Hmm...what kind of cake shall I make...I look at the choices I had at home. Heyyyyy what about Neapolitan! Strawberry, Chocolate and Vanilla sure taste good as ice cream...why not cake?!?

I couldn't make a cake for the first time and not taste it, so i made a mini cake as well...here's a slice of it...

Next I had to think of how to decorate it... I didn't want to do pink and white....it's not really for Valentine's Day or anything...so I disguised it in this whipped icing (attempting to make it taste like ice cream) with chocolate chips on top and chocolate fudge icing aroung the bottom.

Heres a slice of that cake. I took a quick snapshot while serving everyone...

I had some mix left over so I made mini cupcakes!

Happy Birthday TAYLOR!!!!

Happy Valentine's Day!!!!

The day of love is here!...Here are a few of the treats I made...

This is Oreo Cake with whipped chocolate icing!

This is the Red Velvet cake with buttercream icing... made this for my sister.

She sliced it for me so I could get a cut shot!

More Cakes!

Some friends of mine from high school ordered 3 cakes from me!  Thanks guys!

First time working with fondant! Marshmallow fondant that is. It's a bit difficult to deal with, and a pain to color, but still fun! :)

This is the Red Velvet Strawberry Swirl cake with chocolate icing. Fresh strawberry slices on top!

This is just your Classic Chocolate Cake (yellow cake with chocolate icing...I really wanted to cut it since I did it with four layers! lol

Cookies!

This was my first time making homemade Chocolate Chip Cookies...

I've also made sugar cookies and crunchy peanut butter chocolate chip cookies for my church, but I totally forgot to take a picture of them! :( I'm sure I'll make more :)

Valentine's Experiment

When the average person thinks of Valentine's Day, of course the first thing that comes to mind is "LOVE"!... and when we think of a symbol of love, we think of "HEARTS"!  It was only fitting that I make a cake in the shape of a heart! :)

I wanted to do something other than my typical Oreo cake or Strawberry shortcake... so I thought....RED Velvet...Strawberry... Hmm....one red velvet layer and one sstarwberry layer.... Ooooo Strawberry with Red Velvet swirls!...in the shape of a heart!

So here it is...a 6" heart shaped, strawberry with red velvet swirls, a cream cheese icing and sprinkles!

My nephew and son liked it!

So after that experiment, I was left with all this left-over cake mix... More red velvet than strawberry. ugh! What to do?... I just threw it all in a sheet pan....and look what came out!

This was actually better than the previous cake! My mom loved it, my brother and his family loved it... It was gone in no time...I planned to bring a few pieces to church, but it didn't make it.... my bad...
